We’ve introduced a new Discrepancy feature in EasySLR to help teams maintain transparency and accuracy in reviewer decisions — even after conflicts have been resolved.
What is a Discrepancy?
A Discrepancy occurs when, in a two-reviewer project (either 2 human reviewers or 1 human + AI), a Lead Reviewer resolves a conflict, and later one of the reviewers revises their decision.
As a result, both reviewers may now agree with each other, but their updated decision no longer matches the Lead Reviewer’s final decision.
Example:
Stage | Reviewer 1 | Reviewer 2 | Lead Reviewer |
Conflict | Include | Exclude | Include |
Discrepancy | Exclude | Exclude | Include |
What Happens When a Discrepancy Occurs
The system automatically detects and flags articles where discrepancies arise.
Statistics and PRISMA flow numbers are instantly updated to reflect the change.
Affected articles are visually marked for easy identification in the project workspace.
All reviewers’ quality metrics are updated accordingly, regardless of role.
Lead Reviewer Controls
While all project members can view that a discrepancy exists, only the Lead Reviewer assigned to that article can review and resolve it.
The Lead Reviewer can:
View all associated decisions.
Identify which reviewer’s update caused the discrepancy.
Make the final decision to resolve it.
Once resolved, the system automatically refreshes the Statistics and PRISMA data, ensuring all reports remain accurate and up to date.
